Course Objectives:
The course introduces the student to Multimedia Presentations, their uses, hardware and software requirements. It also introduces the student to the impact of combining graphics, text, sound. and animation on an audience. It makes the student aware of technical issues related to Multimedia such as interfacing equipment, Compressing and Decompressing files and Real Time Video.
Course Description :
This module introduces the student to Multimedia Presentations and should enable him/her to create effective presentations.

1. Introduction to Presentation Graphics
-Types of presentations
-Components of the presentation
-Steps in designing a presentation
-Criteria for Selecting suitable graphics, colors, fonts for a slide
2. Using a Presentation Graphics Software
-Design a Slide
-Templates
-Transition Effects
3. Adding Sound to the Presentation
-Interfacing a microphone and Speakers
-Adding Sound Effects
-Adding Voice
-Adding Background Music
4. Importing Video Frames
-Interfacing to Video Camera & VCR
-Capturing Video Frames
-Adding Video Images to the presentation
5. Virtual Reality (VR)
-What is VR?
-VR in commercial advertising
-Using popular VR software to add interesting effects to the presentation
6. Real-Time Video
-What is meant by Real-Time Video
-Hardware Requirements for Real Time Video
-Producing a short Presentation in real time video
7. Project: Any of the ideas below:
-Commercial advertisement
-Tutorial
-Speaker Notes
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Design color Slides combining graphics, text, and sound which communicates
effectively the presentation objectives.
2. Use animation effects.
3. Compress and decompress the presentation files.
4. Create a real-time video presentation
5. Create a run-time file for the presentation which can be run in the absence of
the design tools.

This course helps students in developing the following skills:
1. Communication (Oral & written) Through Assignments and presentations.
2. Analytical Through Assignments.
3. Creative Thinking Through assignments, and classroom discussions
4. Adaptability to Change Through assignments and examinations
5. Use of Information Technology Through use of PCs, Internet, CD-ROM, Statistical
data base in the library Weighting between Exam and CW: 100%CW
Short 2 hour practical assignments are given during classes, while a 10 hour project is given at the end of the module to assess the final outcome.

Class participation and attendance 10%
Individual assignments 40%
